The Spanish police arrested two Moroccan women last Tuesday for trying to smuggle a 3-year-old Syrian child into Melilla, via the border post.
According to the Spanish news agency, Europa Press, the two women, aged 28 and 48, were arrested during the passport control when one of them claimed to be the child’s mother, presenting the original passport of her own son.
Noticing a difference between the passport photo and the Syrian boy, the Spanish police realized that it was a deception, the same source specified.
The minor, under sedative, was taken care of medically before being recovered by his mother, found in the Melilla Foreigners Reception Center (CETI).
