Chelsea's Ziyech Returns from Injury, Boosts Morocco's World Cup Qualifier Hopes

Chelsea was not the only one concerned about Ziyech’s shoulder injury. The coach of the Atlas Lions also feared that the player would miss the call-up for the World Cup 2022 qualifiers. But the player made his debut in the Premier League 2021-2022 season on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal, dispelling any doubt about his fitness.

By participating on Sunday in the match against Arsenal, Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech showed that he has already recovered from the injury sustained during the Supercup final in Belfast. However, Thomas Tuchel preferred to integrate him into the game in the 82nd minute, giving him the chance to participate in his club’s victory against the Gunners.

The recovery of Ziyech reassures the national coach Vahid Halilhodzic who must announce the list of players called up for the next gathering of the Atlas Lions scheduled to start on Monday, August 30 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmoura, in order to prepare for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Morocco will face Sudan (September 2) and Guinea Conakry (September 6).
