Chelsea Goalkeeper Sami Tlemcani Switches Allegiance from Morocco to Algeria, Cites Sporting Decision

Chelsea goalkeeper Sami Tlemcani recently abandoned Morocco to join Algeria. Under fire, he explains the change of his sports nationality.
"[...] I fully understand that my choice may have been perceived badly, or as provocation for some, which is why I would like to apologize to all those who felt offended, or hurt, far from me this idea," writes the now former Moroccan international on Twitter.

He says he just made a sporting decision. "My sporting decisions will never affect the love I have for my father’s country as well as my mother’s," assures the 18-year-old goalkeeper. He also thanked all the structures he has gone through, who trained him, and allowed him to be where he is today.
Sami was born in France in 2004 to an Algerian father and a Moroccan mother.
