Chaos in Tangier as Stolen Cash Scattered on Street, Drivers Scramble
They don’t fall from the sky but from a car. Several motorists did not hesitate to stop in the middle of the street to take possession of several thousand dirhams, thrown to the ground.
The scene was immortalized by a video that has just been published on social networks. It shows several motorists stopping in the middle of the street to pick up banknotes as quickly as possible. They would have been thrown from a car whose occupants had apparently just robbed a store.
According to sources on the spot, cited by the site Alyaoum24, this robbery dates back to the middle of the week and the criminals would have managed to get their hands on 100,000 to 150,000 dirhams, before fleeing. They then decided to throw everything away, without the reasons being known. In the meantime, pedestrians and motorists rushed to this windfall before the bills disappeared in turn.
The police services have of course opened an investigation since then and it is not known whether they have managed to apprehend the burglars in the meantime.
