Counterfeit Cash Scam: Two Women Arrested in Marrakech for Fake Dollar Scheme

Two women from a sub-Saharan country were arrested by the elements of the Prefectural Judicial Police Service of Marrakech, on charges of possession of counterfeit US dollar banknotes, fraud and scam.
In a video circulated on Whatsapp, we see the two women throwing bundles of banknotes into the street, while passersby rush to pick them up, writes the daily Assabah. The investigation, conducted by the police services, made it possible to identify the two sub-Saharan women, originally from Côte d’Ivoire, and to search their home, located in the Saada district of Marrakech.
Aged 37 and 41, the two Ivorian women soak the banknotes in a black liquid, so as not to arouse the suspicion of their victims. They claim to be from a wealthy Ivorian family, and that they have had difficulty introducing the money into Morocco. They add that the banknotes require a special liquid to be able to clean them. To convince their victims, they ask them to make the change, by handing them a real banknote.
The search carried out in the home made it possible to seize 421 counterfeit $100 bills, a laptop, a color printer and several mobile phones. The two defendants were taken into custody, at the disposal of the investigation, conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in order to determine the circumstances of the case and identify any other potential accomplices.
