Ceuta Port Sets Record Traffic During 2019 Strait Crossing Operation

As every year, the Operation of the Crossing of the Strait (OPE), in its Spanish acronym, allows to establish the performances that testify to the work done by all the participating agents. On Sunday, September 15, the Port of Ceuta set a new historical record in terms of passenger and vehicle traffic for the 2019 edition of this Operation.
The Port of Ceuta has established itself as the second busiest port during the Strait operation phase. Indeed, during the return phase of the ship, it recorded good performances, with more than 330,000 passengers and more than 75,000 vehicles, which is an increase of more than 10%, in both cases, compared to the previous year, according to El pueblo de Ceuta.
All these efforts prove in several ways that the services offered by the Port of Ceuta are improving and consolidating, becoming increasingly useful to serve and welcome travelers, and facilitate transit to the peninsula.
This explains the significant increase in the number of passengers and vehicles at the Port of Ceuta, to the detriment of the Moroccan port of Tanger Med, which recorded this year lower figures than those obtained the previous year, closing this OPE 2019 with a loss of 7.2% of passengers and 8.8% of vehicles.
Given all these figures, it is clear that many passengers who opted for boarding in Tanger Med last year have preferred this year the Port of Ceuta, due to the organization and quality of the services, the port authorities have rejoiced.
