Casablanca Slips in Global Cities Ranking, Now 105th Out of 156

Casablanca lost four places in the ranking of world cities this year to rank 105th out of the 156 cities listed by the Global Cities Report.
Casablanca ranks 105th in the world out of 156 cities studied by the 2023 Global Cities Report, prepared by the Kearney Consulting Firm. In detail, the city ranks 90th in terms of business activity, 104th in terms of human capital, 143rd in terms of information exchange, 84th in terms of cultural experience and 69th in terms of political engagement.
The top 5 remains unchanged. New York takes the first place of the GCI for the seventh consecutive year. It has further consolidated its position as a leader in the dimension of business activity with the largest increase in score among the 156 cities. This increase is due to the growth in the number of "unicorns" (companies valued at more than one billion dollars), as well as increased trade flows. The American city has also regained its pre-Covid-19 pandemic score in terms of political engagement, with the resumption of political conferences.
New York is followed by London. Paris and Tokyo come next. Beijing completes the top 5. Brussels joins the top 10, taking 6th place. At the level of Arab countries, Dubai (United Arab Emirates) is the top city. It ranks 23rd in the global ranking. Doha (Qatar) loses one place in the global ranking to rank 50th. Cairo and Riyadh take 60th and 61st places respectively.
The 2023 Global Cities Report focuses on the developments that have most profoundly influenced the trajectories of the world’s most connected and important cities over the past year, but also on the social, geopolitical and technological transformations that are actively disrupting the traditional hierarchy of global cities and creating a more widely distributed geography of opportunity. In its report, Kearney Consulting Firm defines global cities by their exceptional international connectivity.
