Casablanca Revives Regional Express Network Ahead of 2030 World Cup

The ambitious regional express network (RER) project is finally coming out of the drawers of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council. Its implementation should be effective before the World Cup that Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

The regional express network (RER) project was on the agenda of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council session on Monday. It should be officially launched in the coming weeks. "A draft agreement between the National Railway Office (ONCF), the municipality and the Casablanca-Settat region is being prepared. It will be presented at the next ordinary session of the city council," said Nabila Rmili, mayor of Casablanca during the session, adding that the RER will connect the future grand stadium of Benslimane (Casablanca) to Casablanca airport.
