Casablanca Ranks as Most Expensive Maghreb City in 2020 Global Cost of Living Survey

The American firm Mercer unveiled its 26th annual report on the most expensive cities to live in for the year 2020 on Wednesday, September 2. It is Casablanca that occupies the 121st place, making it the most expensive city in the Maghreb.
This ranking takes into account several criteria: among others, the cost of transportation, food, clothing, household items, housing... Homes with gardens or near green spaces are now significantly more expensive. While offices must now be larger to accommodate the same number of employees while respecting the recommended social distancing.
Thus, the most expensive cities in the world have become even more so due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The economic capital is followed by Rabat, which ranks 159th. Algiers takes 194th place this year, while it was 184th in 2019. Tunis is ranked 209th in the world.
This ranking is primarily intended to help companies and administrations set the amount of "packages" offered to their expatriate employees.
