Moroccan Cities Rank Among World’s Most Expensive for Western Expats, Study Finds

Casablanca and Rabat are among the most expensive cities in the world for Westerners. This is the result of a ranking established by an American firm.
The American human resources consulting firm Mercer, a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has published its ranking of the most expensive cities in the world for expatriates. Globally, Casablanca and Rabat occupy the 143rd and 162nd places respectively. At the African level, the two Moroccan cities rank 21st and 27th.
The ranking was based on their consumption habits, data collected in March 2022 on the cost of living in 209 cities, including 44 African cities. The ranking takes into account several criteria, including the cost of housing, transportation, food, clothing, household items and entertainment in the cities studied, etc.
