Casablanca Police Arrest 27 Soccer Fans for Violating COVID Restrictions and Vandalism

27 people, including 7 minors, were arrested Monday evening by the Casablanca police for non-compliance with the state of health emergency. They are also accused of causing damage to public and private property and of endangering the lives of others.
These arrested persons would be members of a group of football club supporters. The national security services in the Bernoussi district of Casablanca had received a telephone call reporting acts of destruction on public and private property. In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security indicated that this situation required the intervention of police patrols, which resulted in the arrest of the 27 individuals.
Before being arrested, they managed to cause material damage to 18 vehicles, including a police vehicle that took part in this intervention. An officer was injured and the searches carried out made it possible to seize three bladed weapons and a mechanical key.
Pending the conclusions of the investigation opened to determine the ins and outs of this case, the accused have been taken into custody, the DGSN specifies.
