Casablanca Man Arrested for Selling Fake COVID Travel Permits and Medical Supplies

A man in his fifties was arrested in Casablanca by the national security elements of the Sidi Bernoussi district. He would be involved in a case of possession of drugs, exploitation of the exceptional travel authorization required as part of the state of health emergency for commercial purposes, and unauthorized sale of paramedical tools.

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicates, in a press release, that the suspect was arrested in flagrante delicto for selling paramedical masks and copies of the exceptional travel authorization issued by the public authorities to regulate movements as part of the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus.

He was in a light vehicle in the Anassi neighborhood in Casablanca. A search led to the seizure of 43 copies of the exceptional authorization and 9 paramedical masks intended for sale. There was also a certain amount of cannabis and a sum of money that could come from this criminal activity, writes the DGSN.

Pending the preliminary investigation that will determine all the gray areas of this case, the suspect was taken into custody.
