Massive Cannabis Bust: Nearly 2 Tons Seized Near Casablanca in DGST-Led Operation

The judicial police elements of Casablanca seized one ton and 933 kilograms of cannabis resin hidden in a utility vehicle. The operation took place on Tuesday, thanks to precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicates that the police elements came across a car suspected of being used in drug trafficking. The driver of the car and his companion refused to stop, exposing the police to serious threats. Unwilling to be arrested, they opted to flee in another light vehicle, leaving behind the utility vehicle near the Had Soualem region.
The searches and preliminary investigations made it possible to note that the car abandoned by the two individuals bore a false registration plate. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of about 1,993 kilograms of cannabis resin.
The prefectural judicial police service has opened a preliminary investigation to identify the suspects involved in this case, and to determine its ramifications and possible links with international drug trafficking networks, the DGSN said.
