Casablanca Launches Preventive Pest Control Campaign Amid Global Bed Bug Concerns

The city of Casablanca is tackling the fight against pests, including bed bugs, recently spotted in France.
A directive has been given to the Casablanca Local Development and Environment Company to implement sterilization campaigns, particularly in the neighborhoods of the old Medina and Darb al-Sultan, reports Hespress.
Moulay Ahmed Afilal, deputy mayor in charge of hygiene, specifies that these actions are above all preventive. They are part of a global strategy of prevention against insects and other pests that could take advantage of the demographic growth of the city to proliferate. The focus is on rodents, mosquitoes and midges.
This mobilization comes in a tense national context. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection is multiplying efforts to prevent any intrusion of bed bugs on the territory, following an alert issued by the port authorities of Tanger Med concerning the possible presence of these insects on board a ship from Marseille.
