Casablanca Launches $120 Million Citywide Surveillance Camera Network

The city of Casablanca has just validated the installation of a surveillance camera system. The investment, estimated at 1.2 billion dirhams, is part of the Greater Casablanca Development Plan 2015-2020, where the Municipality had already adopted measures for traffic and security. This system includes the construction of a main command and coordination center.
The project, managed by the DGSN, plans to install nearly 700 surveillance cameras at 330 sites, and 200 control units at intersections, all connected to a centralized network. The member of the City Council, Karim Glaibi, highlighted, in a statement to SNRT News, the scope of these measures in terms of monitoring and regulating traffic in the city, allowing for a finer management of security and urban mobility.
Divided into two phases, the PCC (Central Command Post) project has already seen the construction of a building for traffic control and the expansion of the existing video protection system, at a cost of 184 million dirhams. The second, more ambitious phase, estimated at 975 million dirhams, requires financial adjustments. The Casablanca Municipality has therefore redirected part of the budget from other projects to the PCC, adding an additional 145 million dirhams
