Casablanca Hospital Corruption Probe: Video Sparks Investigation into Alleged Bribery
The authorities of the Mohammed V Hospital in Casablanca have now entrusted the justice system with the file relating to a video of an act of corruption involving members of its medical staff.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health noted that the alleged video shows a doctor and a private security guard who would have received a bribe for a Caesarean section within the said hospital.
Faced with the outcry generated by this video, the ministry decided to open an administrative investigation. The numerous investigations carried out in this framework did not make it possible to clarify this situation or to authenticate the video which was recorded without a date. It also does not allow the identification of the perpetrators of the act of corruption. For the time being, the management of the hospital has not received any complaint on this subject.
Faced with this situation of discomfort and the uncertainty that still persists around this case, the judicial authorities have been seized to continue the investigation in order to establish the responsibilities and take the necessary measures.
The managers of the Mohammed V Hospital have also condemned these acts which, they say, discredit the health professionals and employees of this establishment.
