Casablanca Halves Public Transit Capacity to Combat COVID-19 Surge

No more overcrowding and priority to better hygiene in urban public transport, this is the new battle of the authorities of Casablanca. The passenger capacity of all buses and trams must not exceed 50% in the economic capital of the Kingdom.
Companies, officials from the Casablanca city hall, local authorities, all are waging an open war against the excessive overcrowding, quite marked, in Casablanca transport. In recent times, high rates of Covid-19 infection have been recorded in the Casablanca-Settat region, mainly in the economic capital.
A source from the municipal council told Hespress that the officials of Casablanca and the various transport companies concerned have decided to reduce the number of users of the tram and urban buses to 50% of their capacity.
Efforts are noted in the most assiduous of Casablanca transport companies: thorough sterilization operations for buses and trams. The company disinfects and sterilizes the buses at the end of the working day, especially everything related to passengers, distributes sterilizing liquid to its employees, while avoiding gatherings of users in stations or stops.
The trams are disinfected day and night at a rate of 80 minutes, and at each stop at the Sidi Moumen, Bernoussi and Ain Diab terminal stations. The automated dispensers and access gates are also disinfected and sterilized, as well as all commercial agencies.
