Ryanair Slashes French Routes, Moroccan Destinations Hit as Airline Battles ’Astronomical’ Tax

The airline Ryanair announces the cancellation of its services in three French airports: Strasbourg-Entzheim, Brive and Bergerac. A decision that affects Morocco.
At war for months against the increase in the solidarity tax on airline tickets (TSBA), Ryanair announced this Wednesday a 15% reduction in its capacity in France for this winter. In a press release, the Irish low-cost airline describes this tax as "astronomical" and "making France less competitive compared to other EU countries like Ireland, Spain or Poland, which do not impose any air tax".
Ryanair had left Strasbourg in 2020 before returning in 2022. The airline has been operating two weekly flights from this airport to Porto in Portugal and Agadir in Morocco. But the bulk of the traffic at the Alsatian airport is carried by the Spanish low-cost airline Volotea, which has represented two-thirds of the flights there for several years.
