Casablanca Expands Public Transit: King Mohammed VI Inaugurates 15km Tramway Line

The commissioning of the second tramway line (T2) was given yesterday, Wednesday, by King Mohammed VI.
The new 15 km line crosses the Sidi Bernoussi axis via Ain Sbaâ, Hay Mohammadi, Derb Sultan, El Fida and Anoual over 8 km before reaching Derb Ghalllef, Beauséjour, Casa Finance City, Hay Hassani and Ain Diab, a line already opened in 2012.
The city of Casablanca now has a 47 km network, a first line of 24 km and a second of 23 km. In total, the State has invested 3.77 billion dirhams in this new project which should eventually provide the city with a network of 73 km and a total of 4 tramway lines in addition to two high-level bus lines (22 km).
In addition, 16 new trainsets have been deployed and the authorities promise a frequency of every 9 minutes and 6 minutes during peak hours.
