Casablanca Approves Major Infrastructure Upgrades for 2025 and 2030 Soccer Events

Casablanca is actively preparing to host the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) and the 2030 World Cup. This is evidenced by the conventions on the strengthening of infrastructure approved by the Council of the Casablanca-Settat region.

The Council of the Casablanca-Settat region is pulling out all the stops to ensure the successful organization of CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup. During its extraordinary session last month, the Casablanca-Settat regional council approved 50 out of a total of 51 items on the agenda, including several conventions. Among these, many conventions related to the sports field. One of these conventions concerns a partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the Bouskoura municipal council.

There is also the amendment of a partnership agreement with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Wilaya of the region, the Casablanca city council, the FRMF and the National Agency for Public Facilities (ANEP), concerning the rehabilitation of the stadiums that will host the activities scheduled in parallel with CAN 2025.

Regarding the projects to connect the road axes to the stadiums of the region, the Council approved amendment No. 1 to the partnership agreement that binds it to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Wilaya of the region, the province of Benslimane, the prefecture of Mohammedia, the Road Financing Fund, the National Motorway Company of Morocco (ADM) and the National Office of Railways (ONCF). It is planned to rehabilitate the road links from the Grand Stade de Casablanca at the level of the province of Benslimane and the prefecture of Mohammedia as part of this agreement.

The point relating to the annex of an agreement with the Wilaya of the region, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Communication, for the promotion and diversification of cultural activity in the region as part of the 2022-2027 regional development plan, will be the subject of discussions in the near future.
