Moroccan Handball Scandal: Teen Players Vanish in Poland, Sparking Immigration Probe

Five players from the Moroccan under-19 handball team have left the training camp during the World Championship in Poland. The competent Moroccan authorities have opened an investigation to determine the responsibilities.
The National Authority for the Fight against Corruption in Sport has asked the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada, to open an urgent administrative investigation in order to determine the responsibilities following the "disappearance" of the Moroccan handball players in Poland.
This incident "has caused controversy and questions about the conditions of supervision and control within the Moroccan delegation," For the Moroccan authorities, this "sports and diplomatic scandal" tarnishes the image of Morocco abroad.
For the moment, the Authority suspects an individual with links to illegal immigration networks. It also blames the Federation for not having taken the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the Moroccan delegation during this trip to Poland.
This is not the first time that Moroccan U19 players have disappeared during competitions abroad. In 2023, a similar incident occurred in Croatia and the federation had decided not to take disciplinary action against the person concerned.
