Carjacker Shot Dead by Police After Fleeing with Infant in Vehicle

A man was killed Wednesday morning by the gunfire of a gendarme during an arrest in the El Gara region. The victim and 2 accomplices had chased a woman from her car, before fleeing with her 6-month-old baby.
A woman and her 2 children were attacked by 3 individuals driving a light vehicle. Armed with bladed weapons, the latter forcibly removed her with her 6-year-old child, before seizing the vehicle. A 6-month-old baby was in the back seat.
The alert was given and a chase was engaged by the elements of the royal gendarmerie, who managed to intercept the vehicle at the entrance to the Deroua village. A tough intervention made it possible to free the baby, despite the fierce resistance of the robbers.
Having received a bullet in the chest, one of the kidnappers succumbed to his injuries at the Berrechid hospital. The second suspect was taken into custody, while an arrest warrant was issued against the third accomplice.
