Manhunt Intensifies for Tunisian Suspect in German Baby Kidnapping Case

The police in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in northern Germany, are still searching for a 29-year-old Tunisian, accused of kidnapping a baby in a public garden in Schwerin. He had attacked the mother, a woman of Moroccan origin.
In a statement to the German press agency, the police chief stated: "We have still not been able to locate the individual’s residence," however noting that "the investigators have evidence elements under examination."
The facts date back to September 19, when a young woman of Moroccan origin had been attacked by her ex-husband in Schwerin. He had then snatched their only child, of whom she had custody, before disappearing.
Since Friday, the Tunisian has been the subject of a European arrest warrant issued by the Schwerin district court. A photo of the kidnapper and the baby has been widely circulated.
