Border Clash: 150 Migrants Repelled at Melilla, Spain; 9 Guards Injured

A group of more than 150 sub-Saharan and Maghreb migrants attempted in the early hours of Tuesday to illegally enter the city of Melilla. They were repelled by the Civil Guard agents, nine of whom were "slightly injured" during the operation.
The migrants, mostly sub-Saharan, were turned back "thanks to the device deployed by the Civil Guard and the National Police, and with the active collaboration of the Moroccan security forces," a spokesman for the government delegation in Melilla told Europa Press.

"Nine Civil Guard agents were slightly injured" during the operation "due to the violence exerted by the migrants using sticks and stone throwing," the spokesman said, also noting the participation of the local police in this operation.
