Bordeaux Midfielder Mehdi Zerkane Chooses Algeria National Team Over Morocco and France

Player Mehdi Zerkane has decided to join the Algerian national football team. The attacking midfielder of Girondins de Bordeaux had the choice between the national teams of France, Morocco and Algeria, but he opted for the Fennecs.
While many observers in the sports world are still wondering about the choice made by the player, he explained that his inclination towards the Algerian Green team was the dream of an 8-year-old child that has finally come true. In an interview, Medhi Zerkane confided that at that age, he already saw himself playing for Algeria "It’s a childhood dream! A dream that I’ve had since I was little because, when I was eight years old, I said to myself: One day I will play for Algeria!".
The Franco-Algerian player indicated that during his two call-ups to the national team, he felt at home, comfortable and convinced that his place was within the Algerian team. These were the only parameters that led him to leave Morocco and France. At 21 years old, Mehdi Zerkane signed his first professional contract with FC Girondins de Bordeaux in June 2019 for a period of three years.
