Body of Missing Moroccan Migrant Identified in Ceuta, Family Awaits DNA Confirmation

The lifeless body of the Moroccan found at sea in Ceuta on Wednesday was buried on Thursday in the Sidi Embarek cemetery. It would be that of Youssef Horous, according to his family who were able to identify him. The judicial police are awaiting the results of the DNA test to confirm the family’s version.

Everything seems to indicate that the lifeless body found on Wednesday by the Civil Guard would be that of the young Youssef Horous. His family, who had been desperately searching for him, were able to identify him in the photographs, reports El Faro de Ceuta. The young man had tried to cross the Benzú border with two friends who were intercepted by Moroccan agents. According to these two companions, Youssef had managed to reach the autonomous city. But no news of him since then.

At the announcement of the news of the discovery of a decomposing body, Youssef’s family tried to verify if it was that of their son. Despite the advanced state of decomposition, the family was able to clearly identify Youssef, thanks to the physical features and distinctive signs of his appearance.

The young man was buried in the Sidi Embarek cemetery, in the presence of one of his uncles, a resident of Ceuta, who thanks to his portable phone connected to the Internet, allowed Youssef’s family who remained in Morocco to pay him a last tribute.

The Civil Guard judicial police have requested the DNA of a direct relative of the victim in order to carry out a DNA test on the recovered body before certifying that it is indeed that of Youssef.
