BlaBlaCar Morocco launch AI expansion no jobs

BlaBlaCar is launching its service in Morocco, but without any announced local establishment. The kingdom is part of around twenty new markets that the French ride-sharing company wants to open from Paris, thanks to artificial intelligence.

The method is a departure from classical expansion. No local team mentioned, no office announced, no operational presence on the ground. BlaBlaCar will simply adapt its application to the targeted markets, generate its marketing campaigns with AI and attempt to attract users at minimal cost.

The group’s chief executive officer, Nicolas Brusson, stands by this acceleration. "It took us years to establish ourselves in our first 20 countries. Just a few months were enough to prepare our launch in 20 new countries," he explains to Le Monde newspaper. Morocco is therefore integrated into a global strategy, alongside countries in Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe.

A market to conquer, not jobs to create

For Morocco, BlaBlaCar’s arrival looks more like a commercial test than an establishment. The company wants to create the ride-sharing habit there, gain visibility and build a user base, but without announcing direct job creation in the country.

The service will initially be free. Passengers will only pay the driver, with no additional fees for the platform. Monetization will come later, if the market becomes sufficiently large. This is the model already applied in Brazil, where BlaBlaCar waited several years before charging for part of its offering.

Morocco thus becomes a testing ground for very light digital expansion: BlaBlaCar doesn’t really establish itself there, it activates its application there.
