Danish Furniture Giant JYSK Expands to Morocco with Multiple Store Openings

A Danish brand of furniture and decoration is entering the African market through Morocco. It is preparing to open its first two stores in Casablanca.
The JYSK group is including Morocco in its international expansion plan and plans to open its first two stores in Casablanca: one at the Viva Park shopping center and the second at the Aeria Mall shopping center. Three to four new openings are expected to be effective by the end of the year. The brand also offers Moroccan consumers the possibility to shop online. A dedicated logistics warehouse, or "dark store", has already been set up in Casablanca to ensure delivery throughout the national territory. "Expansion is in the DNA of our company. We are eager to introduce JYSK and all of our offerings to Moroccan customers, and to see how our concept will be received in this new continent," says Rami Jensen, CEO of the group.
Morocco is the starting point for JYSK’s first adventure in Africa. It has become the fiftieth country where the group founded in 1979 in Denmark has set up. The brand now has more than 3,500 stores worldwide. "We are proud to reach several important milestones with this double opening: our entry into the African market and our establishment in a 50th country. These steps confirm the relevance of our expansion strategy. I look forward to participating in the inauguration and, I hope, witnessing a great celebration in our two new stores in Casablanca," continues Rami Jensen.
