BFMTV Praises Morocco's 'Exemplary' COVID-19 Response and Mask Production

The French continuous news channel BFMTV has stated that Morocco’s strategy to counter covid-19 and curb its spread "is exemplary".

From the beginning of the epidemic last March and to face the health and economic crisis, Morocco has set up a covid fund of 3.2 billion euros, or 2.6% of its GDP, recalls BFMTV. The French channel has posted an article on its website, under the title "Coronavirus: how Morocco has mobilized its industry to produce 7 million masks per day", in order to extol the merits of the kingdom in managing the health crisis.

Similarly, an additional budget of 3 billion euros from the Precautionary and Liquidity Line (PLL) has been made available to the kingdom by the IMF, the channel specifies, adding that in fifteen days, three field hospitals have been deployed by the army, bringing the number of intensive care beds from 1,500 to 4,000.

Morocco has also called on the support of aerospace companies that have produced ventilators. In fifteen days, a non-invasive model, intended for emergencies, has been created, BFMTV reports. According to the channel, an invasive model, intended to intubate people in severe respiratory distress, has also been developed in Morocco, which plans to produce a thousand of them.

"In crisis management, we are experts in decision-making; this is the advantage of the monarchy," says Abdelmalek Alaoui, president of the Moroccan Institute of Strategic Intelligence (IMIS), to BFMTV, indicating that "the use of chloroquine was made possible in 24 hours".

The latter explained that 17 factories have been mobilized to equip the population with certified surgical masks, sold in pharmacies and small shops. "In March, we manufactured 82 million, which constitute a strategic stock. We are now producing 7 million per day and we will be at 10 million next week," he is convinced.
