The best-selling car in Europe is made in Morocco
The European automotive market is confirming a new hierarchy. Since 2024, the Dacia Sandero has occupied the top spot in sales on the continent. This performance is largely based on the Moroccan industrial tool, where the majority of units of this model are now assembled.
The figures indicate that around 268,000 units of the Sandero were delivered in 2024. The trend continues in the first eleven months of 2025, with the city car maintaining its leading position. The Dacia Duster also enters the European top 10 with 175,000 annual sales. Overall, the brand has crossed the threshold of 10 million vehicles sold since the launch of the Logan in 2004.
This success is explained by a pricing positioning adapted to the evolution of the market. The brand has consolidated its position by gaining the trust of a wide European public thanks to a favorable price-quality ratio. In a context where the average price of cars in the B segment has increased by 22% in Europe over the past five years, the Sandero remains one of the most affordable options technically.
On the industrial level, while Dacia remains a pillar of the Romanian economy with a turnover of 5.5 billion euros in 2024, the distribution of production is sectorized. While two-thirds of the Dusters come out of the Mioveni plant in Romania, the bulk of Sandero production is carried out by the factories based in Morocco. This industrial setup allows the brand to maintain competitive costs while meeting the demand of the European market.
