Belgian Muslims to Begin Ramadan Fast on March 1

It’s official. Ramadan begins on Saturday, March 1 in Belgium, according to the Council of Theologians, which met this Friday. Here is the full press release:
Following the meeting of the Council of Theologians today by videoconference, the Executive of Muslims of Belgium (EMB), the representative body of the Islamic faith, is pleased to announce that the fast of the month of Ramadan will begin this year on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
The EMB extends its best wishes to the entire Muslim population of Belgium and hopes that this blessed month will be marked by wisdom, patience and, above all, solidarity with people in distress following the natural and human disasters that have occurred in recent months.
The EMB invites citizens of the Muslim faith to take advantage of this month to multiply prayers for the sick and vulnerable, the deceased and all families bereaved by the loss of one or more loved ones.
May this month of Ramadan be a moment of reconciliation and appeasement, where hearts come together in a spirit of brotherhood and benevolence. May peace prevail over discord, may justice and dignity be restored for all suffering populations, and may the light of this blessed month illuminate a path of hope for a more united and harmonious world.
May God grant His mercy to all humanity and guide each one on the path of peace, love and solidarity.
For the EMB Office,
Mehmet ÜSTÜN, President
