Belgian Man Denied Restaurant Entry with Moroccan COVID Pass, Sparks Incident

While he came to eat in a fast food restaurant in Auvelais (Sambreville), a man was denied access, his Covid Safe Ticket, issued in Morocco, not being valid in Belgium.

The events took place around 8pm on December 8th. As he felt the need to eat, a man went to a fast food restaurant on Rue de l’Essor in Auvelais. Unexpectedly, he was prohibited from sitting in the restaurant because his Covid Safe Ticket was not valid, reports La Meuse. Faced with this refusal, the customer who claims to be doubly vaccinated caused a scandal. The fast food staff had to call the police.

According to the explanations of Jean-Paul B., head of the SamSom zone, the man had been vaccinated in Morocco and presented a CST that is apparently not recognized in Belgium. "We first invited him to go scan his CST elsewhere and, if the problem persisted, to contact the services of the AViQ (NDLR: the Agency for a Quality Life, which is competent to assess the validity of CSTs) to try to get in order. The rules of vaccine compatibility are not the same in Europe as elsewhere. So you have to be careful and inquire, for example for non-Europeans who intend to spend the end of the year holidays in Belgium," he adds.
