Belgian Drug Trafficker Arrested in Spanish Port After Fleeing Morocco

A fugitive, wanted by Belgium, who tried to flee Morocco, was arrested in Almeria, according to a note from the national police. Indeed, they apprehended this 22-year-old drug trafficker, who was wanted in Belgium to serve a 40-month prison sentence and pay a fine of 16,000 euros.

According to the account of the Almeria Police Headquarters, it was the national police officers serving at the vehicle exit filter of the international port of the same city who carried out the arrest of the fugitive. To achieve this, they first disclosed their identity, before proving the validity of an extradition order issued by a Belgian court on January 16, 2019.

The court had sentenced the detainee to a 40-month prison sentence and a fine of 16,000 euros for belonging to a criminal organization. This one would have sold more than 730,000 euros of drugs between October 2016 and March 2017.

According to the same source, the fugitive admitted during his arrest to having had in his possession, and sold, cocaine and heroin to an organized Dutch group. He was traveling to Gingelom to deliver his cargo, oversee the sale and collect the funds from this activity, on behalf of the group.
