Spanish Police Capture Moroccan Drug Lord Wanted in France

A Moroccan wanted by the French judicial authorities for drug trafficking has been arrested in Tarifa (Cádiz), Spain. He had previously been sentenced to 20 years in prison for belonging to a criminal organization dedicated to international drug trafficking between Morocco, Spain and France since the 1990s.
The suspect, aged 53, was arrested by national police officers, in collaboration with Frontex agents, as he was about to enter the port of Tarifa from Morocco. A member of an international drug trafficking network active since the 1990s between Morocco, Spain and France, he had been tried and sentenced in 2002 to 20 years in prison by the Assize Court of Bouches-du-Rhône, reports La Voz Digital.
According to the Spanish police, the Moroccan had established his residence in the province of Malaga to escape the controls of the Spanish and French police. After his arrest, he was made available to the investigating judge of the High National Court, who ordered his immediate detention, pending his extradition.
