Barcelona’s 15-Year-Old Prodigy Lamine Yamal Draws Messi Comparisons at La Masia

At only 15 years old, the young Moroccan Lamine Yamal in training at the FC Barcelona youth academy, La Masia, is seducing with his excellent performances to the point of being compared to Argentine star Lionel Messi.
There are reasons to think that Lamine Yamal will be the next gem to come out of La Masia. The 15-year-old is making football lovers dream. His ball control, quick reactions and dribbling style set him apart. A quick acceleration and solid balance make this winger a difficult player to stop. He stands out as a versatile striker. This winger is capable of scoring with both feet or even with his head.
After his first training session with Barcelona’s senior team in early September, Lamine is considered by many to be the brightest talent currently at the Catalan club’s youth academy, comments Football Espana. The Blaugrana are negotiating his first professional contract with agent Ivan de la Pena and coach Xavi could consider calling him up for their Copa del Rey draw against Intercity on January 4, reports Diario AS.
Born in Mataró in 2007, in the Barcelona suburbs, to a Moroccan father and an Equatorial Guinean mother, Lamine has climbed the ranks at Barcelona, but also with the Spanish national team. He had an exceptional season in U12, scoring 138 goals in 58 matches. The 15-year-old player scored 28 goals the following season in U14. In his first season with the U16s in 2021/2022, Yamal scored 28 goals and provided 16 assists.
His excellent performances are arousing admiration in Spain. La Roja calls him up. With the U15s, Lamine scores three goals in six matches. He is promoted for a few games with the U16s of La Roja. If he continues on this momentum, he will undoubtedly become the next gem to come out of La Masia, after Pedri, Gavi or Ansu Fati.
