Barcelona Prodigy Lamine Yamal, 15, Set for Historic La Liga Debut

Lamine Yamal, the Moroccan prodigy of the Barça academy, is likely to become the youngest player in the club to make his debut in La Liga with the first team. The 15-year-old player could play his first minutes in the match against Rayo.
Xavi Hernandez is full of praise for Lamine Yamal, a "different" player who, according to him, has "the talents of several footballers". The young player has the characteristics of modern footballers "who act with tremendous recklessness, great self-confidence, tremendous impudence," says the Barça coach. The player of Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean origin stands out for his dribbling and technical qualities. Versatile, he can play in any of the three attacking positions.
If Lamine Yamal manages to play a few minutes against Rayo in Vallecas, he will become the youngest Barcelona player to make his debut in La Liga, well before Ansu Fati or Bojan Krkić who did it at 16, or Mario Rosas, Gavi, Balde, Pedri, Deulofeu, Adama Traoré, Oriol Riera, Nano, Muniesa or Lionel Messi who did it at 17. But Lamine Yamal would not be the youngest player in the history of the Spanish championship. Before him, there was Luka Romero, who made his debut at the age of 15 years and 219 days with Mallorca against Real Madrid three seasons ago, breaking the record of the striker Bao Rodríguez alias "Samsón" who played Celta during the 1939-40 season at the age of 15 years and 255 days.
