Barcelona Prodigy Lamine Yamal Reportedly Chooses Morocco Over Spain

Lamine Yamal, the youngest player in FC Barcelona’s history, would have chosen to turn his back on Spain to play for Morocco, which has always shown interest in him.
Will Lamine defend the colors of the Moroccan flag? Spanish journalist Joan Fontes answers in the affirmative in a podcast on Barça. This choice, if it were to be confirmed, would delight Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and coach Walid Regragui.
At only 15 years old, Lamine has broken several precocity records, including those of his elders like Ansu Fati and the one held since 1941 by Spaniard Vicenç Martinez by becoming at 15 years and 290 days the youngest player in the history of FC Barcelona. He also became the fifth youngest player in history to make his debut in a Liga match, across all clubs.
Born in Spain to a Moroccan father and an Equatorial Guinean mother, Lamine has made his promising debuts in the youth categories of Barça and the Spanish national team (U15, U16, U17 and U19).
