Spain Calls Up Barcelona Prodigy Lamine Yamal for U-17 Euro Championship

Lamine Yamal, 15 years old, who became the youngest player in Barcelona’s history to make his debut with the first team, during the match against Betis, has been called up by the Spanish under-17 team to participate in the European Championship that will take place in Hungary from May 17 to June 2. A call-up that could jeopardize his future with the Moroccan team.

The end of the season for Lamine Yamal with the Barcelona first team. The player of Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean origin has just been called up by the Spanish Football Federation for the under-17 European Championship scheduled in Hungary from May 17 to June 2. Good news for the young player who should leave Barça for the first gathering of the Spanish team announced for May 8, reports Sport.es.

Lamine Yamal and his teammates will train in Las Rozas until May 16, before joining Hungary. They will face Italy on May 18 for their first match of the competition. Unfortunately, Barcelona, who resumed training on May 5 to prepare for the match against Espanyol, will be without their Moroccan prodigy for this match which will take place on May 14. Yamal will only be able to resume training under Xavi’s orders after the European Championship.

The young Moroccan striker trained on Thursday with Barça Atlètic under the orders of Rafa Márquez and could be lined up for the match against Eldense this weekend. Yamal wants to continue to grow and reveal his talent to the world. The European Under-17 Championship is therefore an opportunity for him to gain experience. The 15-year-old player will be able to return to Barcelona after June 2, the day of the European Championship final, and perhaps even before, if the Spanish team is eliminated earlier than expected.

It is not certain that Yamal will be with Barcelona for the last match of the season, in Balaídos on June 3. But he will be able to be ready to start the 2023/24 pre-season in good conditions. Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said after the Betis match that he has no intention of letting go of the young player.
