16-Year-Old Prodigy Lamine Yamal Sparks Barcelona’s Comeback Win Against Tottenham

Lamine Yamal, the Moroccan gem of Barça, who made his debut with the first team at just 15 years old last season, was decisive on Tuesday against Tottenham (4-2).
Before Yamal’s entry into the game, less than ten minutes from the end of the match, the Blaugrana were trailing 2-1. The young player’s performance allowed Barça to equalize and win the match (4-2). The 16-year-old Moroccan winger was decisive in the three goals scored by Barça in 12 minutes. A minute after coming on, he provided an assist, setting up the equalizer for his team, reports Sports.
A pure product of La Masia, Barça’s academy, Yamal had been called up to the Spanish U19 team, but was later sanctioned for indiscipline. Of Moroccan father and Equatorial Guinean mother, the young man could accept to play for Morocco or Equatorial Guinea, the same source specifies. Yamal is currently without a contract with Barça, a situation that his new agent Jorge Mendes will have to remedy quickly.
Last season, Yamal became the youngest player in the club’s history to play a match with the first team at 15 years old. "He is similar to Lionel Messi or Ansu Fati, he has that innate talent and you wouldn’t think he’s fifteen. He can leave his mark on the team," Xavi Hernandez had said about the young player.
