Barcelona Winger Abde Ezzalzouli Opts for Spain Over Morocco Ahead of World Cup

It’s official. Abde Ezzalzouli will no longer be with the Atlas Lions to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. The young Moroccan player from FC Barcelona, who obtained Spanish nationality on Tuesday, could soon respond to the call of La Roja.
Abde has finally declined the offer of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). He will not play under the Moroccan colors and will no longer participate in the Africa Cup of Nations, he informed the organization. Having recently obtained Spanish nationality, he hopes for an upcoming call-up from La Roja to take part in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, El Espanol believes.

The decision of the Barça Moroccan winger has surprised the FRMF and the Moroccan national coach, Vahid, who were expecting him on January 3 for his participation in the CAN. But obtaining Spanish nationality has probably pushed the young player to turn his back on Morocco and choose Spain, thus renouncing an international career.
The news will, on the other hand, delight Barcelona, who will be able to count on their Moroccan prodigy during the Copa América which starts in January and will last nearly a month.
