Spanish Federation Pressures Dual-Nationality Player Abde to Reject Morocco Call-Up

The Spanish football federation is putting pressure on the Moroccan-Spanish player Abdessamad Ezzalzouli to prevent him from joining the Moroccan team. The Barcelona player has been called up by Vahid Halilhodzic to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations.
According to the BeIn Sport channel, the federation would have encouraged the player not to respond to the call of the Moroccan coach, promising him a place in the Spanish national football team.
A few days ago, the young player had expressed his intention to stay in Spain and not respond to the call of Morocco, for fear of losing his starting place within Barça. He would even have taken care to contact the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to inform them of his choice.
In just a few weeks, "Ez Abde" has become such an essential part of the FC Barcelona squad that coach Xavi Hernandez is already having trouble parting with him. Xavi does not want the 20-year-old Moroccan winger to join the Moroccan team because he would be absent during the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid.
