Spain’s Luis Enrique Urges Ezzalzouli to Leave Barcelona Amid National Team Switch

Luis Enrique, coach of the Spanish national football team, is said to have advised the Moroccan player Abdessamad Ezzalzouli to leave FC Barcelona. While the player had promised to join the Atlas Lions next March, he has surprisingly turned his back on Morocco in favor of Spain.
According to El Nacional, leaving FC Barcelona is necessary if Abde Ezzalzouli wants to be part of La Roja. And according to the Spanish coach Luis Enrique, the player would do better to make his decision as soon as possible. At 20 years old, Ezzalzouli is a raw diamond that Morocco and Spain were trying to polish.
The two countries have competed with arguments but Spain will ultimately prevail. Even though there are suspicions of blackmail and threats from the Spanish camp, Luis Enrique has indicated that this is not the case at all. "He has chosen to play for the Spanish team and that is always good news. He has only a few high-level matches, but what he has done is quite interesting," Enrique had previously said.
Abde Ezzalzouli has been frequently called upon by the FC Barcelona coach, but with the return of Pedri and Ansu Fati, the winger will have relatively fewer minutes to play. Thus, according to El Nacional, he no longer sees himself sitting on the bench and could therefore decide to spread his wings elsewhere than within Xavi’s group. Sevilla FC remains a possible option.
