Barcelona Star Lamine Yamal's Father Reveals Epilepsy Struggle, Calls for Respect

Mounir Nasraoui, Lamine Yamal’s father, has revealed that he has been suffering from an illness for years and is asking for "respect".

"If you don’t know me, don’t talk about me. I’m epileptic, I have to take five pills a day. If I give you a pill like mine, we’ll see how you feel. I’m asking for respect because no one has disrespected you. I’ve been robbed several times in the street. Because of my illness, people take advantage of me," said Lamine Yamal’s father in a live video on his Instagram account followed by more than 1.5 million subscribers.

Mounir Nasraoui also denied rumors that he appears in his videos under the influence of drugs. "Lamine Yamal is on the field fighting for his family, for his father, for his mother, for his brother, for his sister, for his grandmother. But not for you to come and see me and say ’it’s on’? I’m not going to tell you what it’s about. I’m not in disguise, I’m a father who has been suffering for many years," he added.

The father of Barça’s wonderkid insisted on respect: "What needs to be done is to respect. If you disrespect someone, they will disrespect you too. I don’t insult anyone, I joke about myself." The 39-year-old man had made headlines for attacking a stand of the far-right party Vox in Mataró and for being stabbed in Barcelona.

On May 28, after the announcement of Lamine Yamal’s contract renewal with Barça, Mounir Nasraoui shared on his Instagram account a photo of him and his son with the number 19.3. A figure that suggested it was his son’s new salary. "19.3? Before signing, we made a joke with my father and the president. It has nothing to do with Barça, nor with the contract or football. If you knew what it was about, you would laugh," reacted the 17-year-old striker during the El Larguero program on Cadena SER.
