Barcelona Star Lamine Yamal’s Father Hospitalized After Stabbing Incident in Mataró

Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Lamine Yamal, was stabbed twice in the abdomen on Wednesday night in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró (Barcelona). The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested three individuals suspected of carrying out this attack.
The attack took place around 9 p.m. on Wednesday on Frank Marshall Street, in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró. Lamine Yamal’s father received two knife wounds to the abdomen and was taken to the Can Ruti hospital in Badalona. According to the latest news, his condition is stable and he is out of danger, reports La Vanguardia.
Mounir Nasraoui had an altercation in the afternoon with his alleged attackers, which required the intervention of several patrols from the Mataró municipal police. The father of the Barcelona player told the police that he was walking down the street when three individuals insulted him and threw water at him. The incident was eventually resolved and each went their own way.
The Mossos d’Esquadra of Mataró suspect that the attack on Mounir Nasraoui is related to this first incident, especially since Lamine Yamal’s father was attacked by surprise and without apparent reason. His attackers stabbed him twice in the abdomen and fled the scene on foot, say witnesses who alerted the police and emergency services. The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
On Wednesday night, the Mossos d’Esquadra announced the arrest of three suspects accused of attempted murder. Lamine Yamal’s father, meanwhile, is still in the hospital. His son regularly checks on him by phone. Early this Thursday morning, several of Mounir’s relatives, as well as Alejandro Echevarría, the right-hand man of the Barcelona president, were at the hospital to show their closeness. The investigation is ongoing.
