Barcelona Star Lamine Yamal’s Father Hospitalized After Knife Attack

Stabbed twice in the abdomen on Wednesday night in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró (Barcelona), Mounir Nasraoui, the father of the Spanish international of Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean origin, Lamine Yamal, remains in the hospital in stable condition. His son visited him after a training session.

The thirty-year-old was transferred to the Can Ruti hospital in Badalona after receiving two knife wounds to the abdomen around 9 p.m. on Wednesday on Frank Marshall Street, in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró. Mounir was admitted to an intensive care unit in Barcelona, but he should be transferred to a regular ward. Worried, his son visited him after a training session. The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, was also at the hospital on Wednesday evening to show his closeness to the father of the winger of his club.
Alerted by a man described as Mounir’s best friend, the Mossos d’Esquadra arrested three suspects during the night of Wednesday. "What we can say is that the knife attack took place at 9:10 p.m. in a parking lot and that the arrests took place a few hours later and that the three arrested people were in custody at 11 p.m. [...] I can confirm that three people were arrested after the knife attack on a man in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró. The investigation is still ongoing and the police are still trying to establish the level of involvement of the arrested persons," said a spokesman for the regional Mossos d’Esquadra police on Thursday morning, without providing further information on the age and nationality of the arrested men.
According to this spokesman for the Mossos d’Esquadra police, other arrests could take place. Currently, the police are actively searching for a fourth suspect.
