Barcelona Star Lamine Yamal’s Father Stabbed in Possible Hate Crime Attack

Is Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Lamine Yamal, paying the price for his son’s choice to play for the Spanish national team instead of the Atlas Lions? This is in any case one of the hypotheses favored by the Mossos d’Esquadra who are pursuing their investigation into the knife attack he suffered on Wednesday in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró (Barcelona).
Mounir Nasraoui received two stab wounds to the abdomen in the middle of the street on Wednesday night and was transferred to the Can Ruti hospital in Badalona where he is recovering. Three individuals who had an altercation with the father of the Barcelona prodigy earlier in the day were arrested as the alleged perpetrators of this assault.
The investigation opened to shed light on this aggression is ongoing. According to the latest news, the investigators favor the theory of a hate crime against Mounir, whose son Lamine Yamal chose to wear the Spanish jersey after declining the offer from Morocco, which did everything to convince him to join the den of the Atlas Lions.
According to La Razón, the Moroccans have still not digested Yamal’s choice to join La Roja. "Yes, here in the neighborhood, he has received a lot of hate messages from the Moroccan community. It’s curious. They saw it as a betrayal," revealed a restaurant owner in Rocafonda, frequented by Lamine Yamal and his entourage.
Born in Spain to a Moroccan father and an Equatorial Guinean mother, Lamine Yamal chose to join La Roja at the expense of Morocco. The Moroccans also did not appreciate the fact that the young player had the flags of Morocco and Guinea printed on his cleats, seeing this behavior as a "lack of respect" for his origins.
