Barcelona Star Ezzalzouli Reveals Failed Attempt to Recruit Lamine Yamal for Morocco

Abdessamad Ezzalzouli reportedly tried to convince Lamine Yamal to join the Atlas Lions, as he did with Brahim Diaz. But the 16-year-old Spanish prodigy of Moroccan father and Equatorial Guinean mother has ultimately chosen to play for La Roja.

In an interview with AS, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli revealed that he "tried to convince Lamine Yamal to choose Morocco" when he was playing for Barça. "I also talked to Lamine, but he wasn’t convinced. I was there during the FC Barcelona pre-season trying to persuade him to choose Morocco, but nothing. We have to respect his decision, and it’s normal, Spain is also a great selection. I hope everything goes well for Yamal because he’s a spectacular footballer," he replied.

After this confession, Ezzalzouli spoke about his integration into Real Betis and expressed his wish to have more playing time in this club to reveal all his talent. "Not playing a lot also serves as an experience, I work to have more minutes. It is also important to note that there is a lot of competition in my position: Ayoze, Chimy, and even Isco sometimes plays in that position."

The Atlas Lion is preparing for the match against Osasuna, his former club where he had made remarkable performances. The Moroccan striker assures that out of respect for the Navarrese club, he will not celebrate a goal if he were to score one.

Regarding the rumors about his probable transfer to a club in Saudi Arabia or AC Milan, Abde Ez clarified that these are just rumors and that he does not intend to leave Real Betis before the end of next season, during which he hopes to improve his level of play. "I want and I will succeed at Betis. And may next year be the best season of my life," he affirmed.
