Barcelona Squad Depleted by COVID-19 as Akhomach Called Up for Mallorca Match

Moroccan player Ilias Akhomach has been included in the Barça team that will face Mallorca this Sunday, January 2. Like many teams, FC Barcelona has recorded many cases of contamination, including the Moroccan Abdessalam Ezzalzouli.
FC Barcelona and Mallorca will face each other this Sunday evening at 9 pm as part of the 19th day of the Spanish championship. In addition to Covid-19 which is undermining the effectiveness of the group, Barça will have to do everything to climb back up the standings as it currently occupies 7th place with 28 points (7 wins, 7 draws and 4 losses).
"We have between 17 and 18 unavailable players. If we have a little sense, the match should not be played. Mallorca also has many Covid cases, but the rules are what they are, and they are harsh," the coach had deplored.
In addition to the players unavailable due to Covid, the club also has several injured players such as Memphis Depay, Pedri, Sergi Roberto and many others.
