Barcelona’s Ezzalzouli Joins Morocco Squad for World Cup Playoff Matches
Summoned by Vahid Halilhodzic to participate in the playoff matches, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli has joined the national team’s training camp. The FC Barcelona player barely hides the joy he feels in being able to defend the colors of Morocco.
With his refusal to join the Atlas Lions for the CAN and the pressures he was under from both sides, the probability that the Moroccan player Abdessamad Ezzalzouli would join the Atlas Lions was very low. But to the great delight of the coach and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the player answered the call. Freshly an Atlas Lion, Abde Ezzalzouli hopes to help Morocco secure its qualification against the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the two matches counting for the last round of the African World Cup qualifiers (Qatar-2022).
On Monday, the young prodigy spoke his first words since his arrival, calling on Moroccans to support the team. "I am very happy to come to the national team for the first time, and our goal is to qualify for the next World Cup. I ask Moroccan supporters to help us and support us to achieve the most important thing, Dima Maghreb."
After two training sessions and a negative Covid test for both the players and the technical staff, the Moroccan delegation flew to the DRC. The Atlas Lions will face the Leopards there on March 25 at the Kinshasa stadium.
