Baby Trafficking Ring Busted in Casablanca: Fake Nurse Arrested in Hospital Sting

A police operation by the services of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) succeeded on Wednesday in dismantling a criminal network specialized in baby trafficking.
Their modus operandi is to roam public hospitals, looking for low-income families who have just welcomed newborns in order to convince them to part with them for money. In other cases, they simply steal the babies, both in public hospitals and private clinics. This network was operating with impunity until the day a fake nurse was arrested at the Casablanca hospital for attempting to steal a baby, reports the daily Assabah.
According to the newspaper, the fake nurse thought she had convinced a mother to part with her twins. But in complicity with her family, the young mother alerted the police to the facts and an operation was set up to catch the fake nurse in the act. This was done in Sidi Bernoussi, where she had come to exchange the twins for a large sum of money found on her at the time of her arrest.
An investigation was immediately opened and led the police to the trail of this well-oiled network active in baby trafficking. The police are conducting their research and investigations to determine all the facets of this network, and to arrest all the people involved.
